Calvary Addiction Recovery Center in Phoenix, Arizona, has been guiding men and women on the path to sobriety since 1964. A caring, compassionate staff that includes educated, state-licensed therapists creates a culture and environment that is perfect for healing. Its 58-bed, 2.5-acre campus includes recreation that helps to build the community that is so essential to cessation of drugs or alcohol. Calvary’s treatment program addresses practical, physical and spiritual facets of addiction to meet the needs of each client in an all-encompassing way.

At its residential campus, clients undergo a medical detox and can take part in a partial hospitalization program or intensive outpatient program. Equine therapy, acupuncture, yoga, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing and pastoral counseling are also available.

Calvary staff treats addiction as a chronic and progressive disease that affects the totality of the addicted person. It can manifest itself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritual, taking a significant toll on a person’s health, outlook on life and relationships. Not only that, the disease has a profound effect on family and friends close to the addicted person.

As an essential part of recovery, family takes part in the addicted person’s treatment. Clients and family learn how to better communicate and cope, resolve conflict, mend trust issues and forgive one another. Calvary’s residential treatment process requires a commitment to long-term follow-up care and a 12-step community.

At Calvary Center, the essential detoxification process is supervised by a board-certified physician and a team of specialists. Following detox, the client can choose two paths for his or her 30-day residential recovery: the traditional 12-step approach and a Christ-centered treatment. Both programs include time for devotion, meditation and spiritual recovery.

Clients can be also be placed in partial-hospitalization treatment or Calvary’s intensive outpatient program. The partial-hospitalization treatment puts the client under the care of medical experts who will help to heal spiritual support systems to help patients take an active role in renewing their life. During partial-hospitalization treatment, the client is closely monitored so coping skills can be improved and treatment decomposition can be avoided.

Young Adult Program

Addiction can imperil the future of any young adult. During this sensitive time, decisions are made and habits are formed that will affect somebody for the rest of his or her life. To address the unique challenges of a young adult who faces addiction, Calvary Center has created a program that caters specifically to young adults 18-25. Calvary is renowned for its young adult program, so much so that roughly half of Calvary’s client population falls into the 18-25 age range.

Family

The closeness and support provided by family is a powerful tool to be used during the process of recovery. At Calvary, the family of an addicted person is invited to take part in a two-week program that will equip them with the education and tools needed to help their loved one through recovery. During the first week, family participates without the client to learn about the 12-step process, how sponsorship works and how the processes of addiction and recovery work. The second week includes the client in the process. During the second week, family and residents learn how to cope with anger and emotion and how to communicate honestly. At the end of the second week, the family and the client commit to a family agreement.
